St Andrew’s Cathedral

St Andrew’s Cathedral is Singapore’s largest and oldest Anglican church, set within a tranquil compound directly opposite the Padang. Its striking white Neo-Gothic exterior stands out amidst the modern skyline, while the interior offers a peaceful, air-conditioned space ideal for quiet reflection.

The cathedral grounds are flat and well maintained, making them easy to navigate for elderly travellers. Within the compound, visitors can rest on sheltered benches while enjoying the serene atmosphere. The main sanctuary, with its tall arches and stained-glass windows, offers a calming environment away from the bustle of the city.

As it is only a few minutes’ walk from Swissôtel The Stamford, the cathedral makes an excellent short, low-energy cultural stop, either on its own or combined with the National Gallery and Capitol Singapore in a gentle circuit.
